Seated on a porch, this soldier wears a jacket of the Richmond Depot third pattern design. His buttons, made of rubber, may have been original to the jacket. They might also have been replacements to brass buttons added after the federal government made it illegal to wear Confederate uniforms following the end of hostilities.
